All is right with the world . . . (movie world that is)!
So summer is over, all of the blockbusters have come and gone (TDK still hanging on) and we are looking forward to the holiday season for stacked DVD’s of all of our favorites from the summer past. Edward Norton is indicating that he is not interested in revisiting The Incredible Hulk and the all is set in motion over in DC/Warner Bros land to start re-launching/developing their solid properties (Superman and Green Lantern I’m looking at you).
Television is returning back to normal and studios are starting to launch their Oscar potentials(TDK still hanging on). Movies that I did not have time for in the movie theater: The Happeneing, that Zohan movie, The Strangers, Hellboy II, Get Smart, Wall-E and The X-Files 2 will soon find themselves on the top of my Netflix queue. Already we are seeing trailers for what is sure to be a holiday blockbuster season that will see itself sans Harry Potter.
In the next few weeks, news will start leaking on next summer’s tentpoles such as Transformers 2, G.I. Joe and Star Trek © among others. As we come off a strong summer movie season (eff you George Lucas but thanks for the new video game anyway) and enter into the stagnant fall and hopefully gain momentum for the holiday movie season, everything seems right in the movie world. I hope it stays that way because these days it seems that it is all that we have. With the crashing economy, upcoming presidential elections and general apathy, we still have the movies. It feels good to be a sweet movie geek.
Verisimilitude!
